Teaching Teens Financial Independence

If you have teenagers, and you just hand them money when they need it, you're doing a huge disservice. This is prime time for financial freedom in their lives and learn about how to take care of themselves when they are on their own. Teens should have their own money, but they also must learn to value it.

An allowance for financial independence is a good idea, even if you do not give them a lot. They soon learn that if they go through the money that they want and they will do without. If you just get them what they are supposed to give more than they are learning the right lessons.If they married, garage, garden, cleaning or car detailing work for this money, they learn a lesson about financial freedom.

Some experts believe that an allowance is a great idea for any child. When your children are old enough, they can learn financial independence by getting part-time jobs. Make sure you set the rules before they start looking for a job. There are rules that school-age children often work as many hours a week, so you can know about. For some, 'working papers' know if that applies so that is where you live. Tell children that they maintain their grades or they will not be able to work.
