IBS Diet - Foods That Prevent Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) patients suffering from abdominal pain, bloating and discomfort without suffering any noticeable reason. There may be a number of causes for IBS.A diet rich in fiber to prevent IBS should be taken but should not be taken non-soluble fiber. Whole grain breads and cereals, kidney beans and lima beans can be taken and should be taken frequently. Fiber intake gradually should be increased as too much fiber can cause gas and bloating.

Smaller meals to prevent inflammation. Food intake should not be sharp. To take a food slowly to avoid swallowing. A good diet with IBS also need to manage stress, exercise, take anti-depressants and anti-spasmodic drug. A balanced eating habit should be maintained and food products, some of which must be taken for control of IBS are:

1. Eat fibrous food which is soluble in water. The safest food which is easy to digest rice, oatmeal, rice cereal, soy, pasta and noodles are. It can be taken at every meal.Soluble fiber dissolves in water and it helps in the absorption of excess liquid in the colon.Soluble fiber, rice, pasta, barley, soy, corn meal, potatoes, carrots, turnips, mushrooms, avocadoes, mango yams, and are present in papaya.

2. Reduce fat intake to 25% mono-saturated oils for cooking and taking only.

3. Fried foods, red meat, coffee, wine and soda pop to avoid such food products as it can cause IBS syndrome. Food products, which should be avoided wheat based products, red meat etc.

4. Food products which are wheat gluten, rye, and barley are found should be avoided.

5. Low-fat diet without animal meat and dairy products should be taken.
